Viewer Authentication

Viewers are tracked by the minute as they watch your content. As they log into a stream, we authenticate they access to the content, if they are within the date frame for viewing, and if they still have viewing minutes left.

If a ticket holder gives their ticket code to another person, they pass along their viewing rights. A viewer can only watch content from one browser at any given time. If a second browser logs into the stream, the first browser is kicked from viewing the content. This allows a ticket holder to move from one computer to another, but not to give other people their ticket code to watch at the same time. 2 viewer kicks are recorded and tickets are suspended after 4 kicks.

CDN Stream Security

Your CDN can turn on security components that help prevent viewers from sharing the stream outside our ppv portal system. HTTP Referral, SWF Verification and URL signing are a few methods of choice. These methods are not DRM but work well for keeping viewers from sharing the stream.

Limelight Mediavault

The portal service is compatible with the Limelight Mediavault service. This is not DRM, but protects the viewers from sharing the stream URL.

DRM Encryption

We offer DRM (Digital Rights Management) to encrypt your live and on-demand streams from illegal copying of your content.

We use Microsoft DRM technology that is distributed via the Silverlight player to allow for cross-platform viewing. This service is expensive compared to CDN security.

CDN Streaming

We provide the Silverlight, Flash and Real Networks players that you can stream using most any CDN. You assign each stream a player type (Silverlight, Flash, Etc), if the stream is 16:9 or 4:3 and the stream URL. You can also use a custom player if desired (requires testing), for example, you may have a custom player that is provided to you from your CDN.

How the Viewing Page Works After ticket authentication, we direct the viewer to a viewing page that we host. This page is controlled by our security & live manager components. The player is loaded (from the player type) and it plays the stream URL that you assign to the stream. We control ticket security, stream encryption (DRM) and/or URL sharing protection would also be needed, if you desire stronger content security. Such increased security is available through your CDN, or us.
